Assistant Professorship (Assistenzprofessur, tenure track)
at the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Salzburg, Austria in the field of Algorithms.

The Rectorate of the University of Salzburg invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professorship at the Department of Computer Sciences in the field of Algorithms.
Begin: March 1st, 2017.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct independent research on high quality level in one or more of the following areas: parallel and distributed algorithms, algorithm engineering, algorithmic game theory, approximation algorithms, online algorithms, streaming algorithms; Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will be active in the acquisition of third-party funding as well as in students supervision.

Within the first two years of employment, the University of Salzburg will offer a “qualification agreement”. It is expected that the candidate completes his/her habilitation within the first four years after the qualification agreement is signed.
In case the goals of this agreement are met, the employment (first limited to a period of at most 6 years) will be made permanent and the title of the employee will be changed to “Associate Professor” (assoziierte/r ProfessorIn).

The appointee is expected to possess a PhD in Computer Science or Discrete Mathematics and to have an excellent publication record in at least one area of algorithms.
